PALAIS BEAU SITE

PALAIS BEAU SITE

Discover Palais Beau Site, a prestigious, historic Cannes address in the sought-after Croix des Gardes district. This emblematic building, which has stood the test of time, began its history in 1840 as a private château built for François Aymard Rollet, before opening its doors to European aristocracy in search of elegance and winter warmth, including Sir Thomas Robinson Woolfield.

Renamed by M. Court, a perfumer from Grasse, the château found its true vocation in 1867, when it was acquired by Swiss hotelier Georges Gougoltz. A visionary, Gougoltz bought adjacent land and commissioned Cannes architect Laurent Vianay to transform and extend the building into a luxury hotel. Under his guidance, the Palais Beau Site was considerably enlarged: a west pavilion in 1873, and an additional floor in 1879, bringing the number of rooms to 300.

The Palais Beau Site became a meeting place for the international jet-set, with the inauguration of its new Louis XIV-style dining room on January 6, 1880. This work of art, designed by architect Charles Baron and executed by contractor Daumas, boasts a ceiling supported by atlantes sculpted by Cannes artist Ernest Pellegrini, adding priceless cachet to the establishment.

Around 1885, the Palais expanded further, annexing the neighboring Hôtel de l’Estérel, now connected by an elegant gallery. The early 20th century saw the addition of a new lobby and restaurant in 1902, followed by a modernization of the lobby in 1930, testifying to the constant evolution of the Palais to satisfy the desires of an exclusive clientele.

The Palais’ hotel era came to an end when Eugène Schmid acquired it, before converting it to condominium ownership in 1943. Today, the Palais Beau Site represents a living piece of history, transformed into luxury private residences that offer an unparalleled living experience.

Boasting a privileged location, Palais Beau Site is just a five-minute walk from the Côte d’Azur’s beaches and fifteen minutes from the dynamic Square Mistral and its renowned restaurants. This prime location offers the perfect balance between proximity to the vibrant heart of Cannes and the serenity of the lush green spaces of the Croix des Gardes district, ensuring a peaceful residential experience just steps away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Palais Beau Site embodies the very essence of Cannes: a blend of tradition, history and luxury. For those looking to immerse themselves in the glitz and glamour of the French Riviera while enjoying an exclusive lifestyle, Le Palais Beau Site is more than just an address, it’s a symbol of Cannes refinement.
